The UAE announced on Monday that the country's president, Mohamed bin Zayed, discussed enhancing bilateral relations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the latter's visit to Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
The UAE News Agency reported that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, who visited the UAE on Sunday.
It added: "During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the UAE and Israel and ways to enhance and develop them".
Hebrew media reported on Sunday that Netanyahu met with Bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi during a secret visit.
Channel 12 Hebrew reported on Sunday evening that Netanyahu made a secret visit on a private plane to Abu Dhabi, met with President Mohamed bin Zayed, and stayed there all day.
The visit came amid the storm that followed the publication of reports about warnings given to Netanyahu before the events of October 7, 2023, according to the broadcasting authority.
On that day, Hamas attacked Israeli military bases and settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip, killing and capturing Israelis, while the movement said the attack was in response to "daily crimes by the occupation against the Palestinian people and their sanctities".
On Friday, The New York Times claimed that Netanyahu received a secret warning from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed before the Hamas attack, but he did not pass the warning to Israeli security system leaders.
The American newspaper report supports a report published by Haaretz on September 8 about a phone call between Netanyahu and the UAE president.
On September 10, The National, a UAE newspaper, quoted an unnamed official source as saying that "the UAE discusses security issues with other countries through the relevant authorities, and does not discuss them at the leaders' level".
Netanyahu's office denied in a statement that the Prime Minister received any warning from the UAE before the October 7 attack.
