US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday evening that American envoys Steve Weitkoff and Jared Kushner held a "productive" meeting with the Iranians on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York.
This came during a speech by Trump in New York as he opened a meeting with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries, including the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as well as Turkey, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Egypt.
Trump said that Weitkoff and Kushner held a "productive" meeting with the Iranian side, without providing additional details about the content of the meeting or the parties involved on the Iranian side.
He explained that the United States has "completely isolated Iran economically," adding that more oil is flowing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The US President pointed out that Washington may target Mount Ras al-Fous in Iran, overlooking the Strait of Hormuz, if it detects activities there.
