US President Donald Trump said, in remarks to Fox News, that the United States prefers reaching an agreement with Iran to save lives, affirming that Washington is negotiating from a position of strength and is capable of ending the situation at any time.
Trump added that his country might have to target the Jabel al-Fayd site in Iran, pointing to the possibility of carrying out such a strike within an hour.
He emphasized that the United States will not allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, describing it as the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism.
He also accused Iran of killing a large number of American soldiers over the past 50 years, arguing that the nuclear deal signed by former President Barack Obama's administration would have paved the way for Tehran to acquire a nuclear weapon.
