The University of Jordan and the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday to allocate a number of seats for the children of the general body members in the syndicate for admission to the parallel program and obtain a bachelor's degree.

The agreement was signed by the President of the University of Jordan, Professor Dr. Nizar Obeidat, and the Syndicate of Jordanian Journalists, Tariq Al-Momani, in the presence of the Vice President of the University for Scientific Colleges, Dr. Ashraf Abu Karki, the Director of the Media and Public Relations Unit and Broadcasting, Dr. Raqan Abu Arabi, and a number of members of the Journalists Syndicate Council: Rashid Al-Assaf, Rushdi Al-Qaraleh, Rashid Al-Rawashdeh, Muwafaq Kamal, and Khatam Al-Shubayki.

According to the agreement, the number of seats allocated to the children of the general body members is determined by a decision of the Board of Trustees of the University of Jordan, in accordance with the systems, instructions, and legislation in force, and on the condition that the student meets the general and special conditions for admission to the program.

Obeidat said that the agreement comes within the framework of enhancing cooperation with the Journalists Syndicate and supporting the children of its general body members by providing opportunities that help them continue their university education.

He added that the university is keen to enhance its role in serving the community, alongside developing its academic programs to keep pace with scientific developments and labor market needs.

Obeidat pointed out that the university works to refine students' skills and provide them with the knowledge and practical skills that help them join the labor market.

For his part, Al-Momani said that the agreement provides an educational opportunity for the children of the syndicate's general body members and comes within the efforts of the syndicate to provide benefits and services to its members and their families.

He added that the Syndicate Council attaches special importance to the services file and seeks to expand the base of partnerships with national institutions, which will reflect on the members of the general body and their families, noting that the syndicate works through its partners to provide privileges for its members, including scholarships for journalists' children, in addition to programs and initiatives in the service and social fields.

Al-Momani pointed out that the agreement with the University of Jordan represents an addition to the services provided by the syndicate to its members, as it provides an opportunity for journalists' children to join one of the national universities, stressing that the syndicate will continue to work on building partnerships with various institutions and entities, which will contribute to improving the services provided to journalists and their families and providing benefits that help them in various fields.

Al-Momani praised the level of the University of Jordan and its academic and scientific development, stressing the importance of the partnership between the university and the syndicate, and appreciating the university's cooperation and response to allocate seats for the children of the general body members.
