Journalists Syndicate and Anti-Narcotics Association sign agreement to enhance awareness and prevention

The Jordan Press Association and the Jordan Anti-Drugs Society signed an agreement on Saturday aimed at enhancing the role of media in raising awareness about the dangers of drugs and their impact on the individual, family, and society, and developing a partnership between the two sides in the field of prevention and community awareness.

Journalists Syndicate President Tareq Al-Momani emphasized that the agreement comes within the framework of the Syndicate's keenness to strengthen the role of media in community awareness regarding drug dangers, stressing the importance of partnership between media institutions and specialized authorities in confronting this scourge, and disseminating awareness messages based on knowledge and accurate information, which contributes to enhancing awareness and prevention.

Al-Momani pointed out that the press and media play a fundamental role in serving society and addressing issues that affect its security and safety, confirming the Syndicate's readiness to cooperate with the Jordan Anti-Drugs Society in implementing joint programs and events, and supporting initiatives that contribute to raising the level of awareness and enhancing the social responsibility of journalists, in a way that serves drug prevention efforts and limits their spread.

For his part, the President of the Association, Mousa Al-Tarifi, said that the agreement represents an important step towards building a real partnership with the Jordanian media, based on the belief in its pivotal role in drug prevention and enhancing community awareness.

He stressed that the Association does not want the cooperation to be limited to signing the agreement, but rather to turn it into practical programs and initiatives, through training journalists, developing media coverage of drug issues, disseminating accurate scientific information, and promoting responsible media discourse that protects society and does not contribute to stigma or sensationalism.

He added that the Association looks forward, through this partnership, to launching qualitative initiatives that will have a tangible impact on supporting prevention efforts and protecting future generations.
