Ronaldo reaches 981 goals and nears the thousand mark with Al-Nassr

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo reached his 981st career goal after scoring in his Saudi team Al-Nassr's 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan's Neftchi Fergana on Monday, as part of the AFC Champions League Elite competition.

Ronaldo scored Al-Nassr's second goal in the 42nd minute, after Ayman Yahya set the ball up for him with his chest following a cross from Senegalese Sadio Mané, allowing the Portuguese star to strike the ball directly into the net, marking his latest career goal, according to sports reports.

Angelo had opened the scoring for Al-Nassr in the 33rd minute, while Alisher Odilov narrowed the gap for the Uzbek team in the 51st minute, before Anvarjon Gofurov scored an own goal in the 78th minute, securing the 3-1 win for Al-Nassr.

The start of the match was delayed by one hour due to a security alert issued in Riyadh, before the match resumed and Al-Nassr achieved the victory.

With his new goal, Ronaldo is now 19 goals away from reaching the thousand-goal milestone in his career, a figure he is approaching as he continues his journey with Al-Nassr and the Portuguese national team.
