The King: Urgent need to intensify efforts to restore stability in the region to avoid the expansion of the conflict

His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Friday, emphasized the urgent need to intensify efforts to restore stability in the region, calling on the international community to intensify its diplomatic efforts to avoid the expansion of the conflict.

During joint press statements with the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, in Prague, His Majesty pointed out that Jordan continues to emphasize the importance of dialogue and respect for international law, and supports all efforts to achieve peace and stability.

His Majesty stressed that Jordan continues to take all necessary measures to protect its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens.

Speaking about Jordanian-Czech relations, His Majesty said that these ties have seen remarkable growth since their establishment six decades ago, becoming a solid and enduring partnership based on mutual trust.

His Majesty expressed the desire to expand cooperation and build on the great potential of both countries to strengthen economic and trade relations, encourage investment and business partnerships, highlighting the importance of creating new opportunities for the private sector and enhancing joint work in the fields of defense and security.

His Majesty indicated Jordan's aspiration to continue coordination, training, and exchanging expertise with the Czech Republic, contributing to supporting regional and international stability.

His Majesty addressed the situation in the West Bank, expressing Jordan's rejection of the continued expansion of settlements, escalating settler violence, forced displacement, and attempts to impose a new reality, which collectively pose a direct threat to regional security.

His Majesty reaffirmed Jordan's steadfast position rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank, calling on the international community to act to prevent any attempts to change the historical and legal status quo in the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

His Majesty praised the Czech Republic's support for the two-state solution as the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, affirming the Kingdom's commitment to working with partners, including the Czech Republic and the European Union, to support regional security, stability, and prosperity.

For his part, the President of the Czech Republic welcomed the visit of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen, which represents an opportunity to build on the fruitful discussions held in Amman in 2024, affirming that Jordan is one of the Czech Republic's closest and most reliable allies in the Middle East, expressing appreciation for Jordan's efforts, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, to achieve peace and prosperity in the region, and stressing that Jordan's strength and stability are important for Europe and the Czech Republic.

President Pavel highlighted the importance of cooperation between his country and Jordan in delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza, noting the existing cooperation between the two countries since 2013 in the MEDEVAK medical program, through which Czech doctors provided treatment and performed surgeries for thousands of Jordanians and Syrians in the Kingdom.

The Czech President expressed his country's interest in enhancing cooperation with Jordan in the fields of defense, trade, energy, and water resources management.

His Majesty the King and President Pavel held bilateral talks, in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah and First Lady Eva Pavlova, followed by expanded discussions that addressed ways to enhance relations between the two friendly countries and the latest regional developments.

His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen were accorded an official welcome ceremony upon their arrival at Prague Castle.

The talks were attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, His Majesty's Office Director, Engineer Alaa Batayneh, Chief of the Joint Staff Major General Majdi Al-Harasis, the Jordanian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Mohammad Al-Hindi, and the Czech Ambassador to Jordan, Andrea Kotcherova.
