The Israeli army launches raids on Gaza, citing the detonation of an explosive device against one of its vehicles

The Israeli army announced on Monday evening that it had launched raids on Gaza, citing the detonation of an explosive device against one of its vehicles, while it remained unclear whether the device was old and planted before the ceasefire came into effect, or if it was a new one.

The army said in a statement: "Earlier today (Monday), during routine operations in the 'Yellow Line' area, an engineering vehicle ran over an explosive device; there were no injuries among our forces."

The Israeli army is stationed along what is known as the "Yellow Line," a security strip imposed by Israel inside the Gaza Strip, preventing Palestinians from approaching the surrounding areas, while it controls more than 70 percent of the Strip's territory.

The army claimed that "this act is considered a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement by Hamas."

It alleged that "in response, we attacked Hamas infrastructure that was being used to advance terrorist plots against Israeli civilians and our forces," according to the statement's claims.

However, the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" stated that the Israeli army "has not yet determined whether the device was old and planted before the ceasefire came into effect, or if it was a new device."

It added that "the explosive device detonated after a 'D9' engineering vehicle (bulldozer) drove over it in the northern Gaza Strip."

There was no immediate comment from Hamas regarding the army's statement.

Since October 8, 2023, Israel has been waging a war of genocide on the Gaza Strip, which has left more than 73,000 Palestinians dead and over 174,000 injured, in addition to the destruction of about 90 percent of the infrastructure.

These developments come amidst continuous Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since October 10, 2025.

As of Sunday, those violations have resulted in the death of 1,393 Palestinians and the injury of 4,822 others, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health in the Strip.
