The Council of Ministers decided, in its session held on Sunday, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, to approve the settlement of 1002 pending cases between taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department, in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The decision comes as a continuation of the government's approach to easing burdens on economic activities, investors, taxpayers, and citizens, stimulating economic activity, improving the business environment, and assisting taxpayers in settling their tax status.
The Council of Ministers decided to approve the Greater Amman Municipality's issuance of Islamic finance sukuk worth 400 million Jordanian dinars in the form of an Ijara Muntahia Bittamleek (lease-to-own) contract, with an annual return rate of 5.5% for a period of 5 years.
The decision comes within a plan aimed at enhancing financial management efficiency, reducing costs, and leveraging Islamic financing opportunities available in the local market.
This issuance is the first of its kind in the Kingdom for public institutions (municipalities), which strengthens the Kingdom's presence as one of the leading international experiences in the field of Islamic finance and its applications, in line with the Economic Modernization Vision and its development goals.
