Syrian Security Announces the Arrest of a Colonel Pilot in Assad's Army

Internal Security Forces arrested the so-called Khalidon Hussein Mubarak, a colonel pilot in Assad's army, following a security operation targeting his hiding place in Jableh countryside, as reported by the Syrian News Agency on Sunday.

Internal Security Forces stated, via their Telegram channel on Sunday, that the military records of the detainee indicate his progression as a fighter pilot on (Mig-29) aircraft, where he served for many years within Squadron 699 of the 17th Brigade stationed at the Sin Military Airport, culminating in his promotion to the rank of colonel in 2023.

They explained that the investigations revealed his involvement in committing serious violations and war crimes against civilians, through conducting extensive combat air sorties covering most of Syrian territory, with a significant focus on northern regions.

Internal Security Forces pointed out that information indicates that the detainee was injured in 2020 after his aircraft was targeted by rebels in Idlib, and he resumed his operations immediately upon recovery until the fall of the former regime.

They confirmed that the investigations with the detainee are ongoing to complete the legal procedures against him, in preparation for his referral to the competent judiciary to receive his just punishment.
