The Syrian authorities announced on Monday the arrest of a prison guard from the ousted regime who worked in the Air Force Intelligence branch in Daraa province, southern Syria, on charges of torturing and killing civilians during the years of the Syrian revolution.
The Internal Security Forces, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, said in a statement that they arrested Hassan Khalaf, whom they described as the "prison guard in the Air Force Intelligence branch in Daraa", and accused of "torturing and killing civilians during the years of the Syrian revolution".
The statement did not provide further details about Khalaf or the circumstances of his arrest.
The Air Force Intelligence branch in Daraa was one of the notorious security agencies affiliated with the ousted regime, which was overthrown by the revolutionaries on December 8, 2024.
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, the Syrian authorities have been announcing the arrest of people involved in committing violations against Syrians during the years of the revolution that erupted in March 2011.
