Engineer Abdulrahim Suleiman, Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), praised the Jordanian newspaper "Al-Rai" for its media role and presence in the Arab journalistic landscape, noting that it represents a prominent name in Jordanian journalism and expressing his pride in the long-standing relationship with it over the years.
In an exclusive interview with "Al-Rai," Suleiman stated that the 26th session of the Arab Radio and Television Festival for the year 2026 has witnessed remarkable development year after year and broad Arab and international participation, in addition to the signing of several agreements between media institutions and bodies, which enhances opportunities for cooperation and exchange of expertise.
He indicated that the festival represents an important opportunity for media professionals from various Arab and international countries to meet, explaining that the equipment exhibition and the program market witnessed wide participation, reflecting confidence in the opportunities for cooperation and professional and material benefits offered by the festival.
Suleiman emphasized that the competition in the festival's contests was strong, pointing to the adoption of an electronic judging mechanism via a platform belonging to the Union that ensures transparency and objectivity in evaluating participating works and monitoring the various stages of judging.
He explained that the platform is capable of detecting any illogical or biased patterns in the evaluation process, ensuring more accurate and objective results, noting that the results are not announced until the judging process is completely finished.
He pointed out that the primary goal of the competitions is to improve the quality of production and enhance competition among Arab media institutions, confirming that the level of competition this year was stronger than in previous sessions.
In this context, the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation won two awards in the 26th session's competitions, as the program "Ifrah wa Imrah" (Rejoice and Have Fun) won the first prize in the main television competition for the children's programs category, while the talk show "Sixty Minutes" won another award within the festival's competitions.
Suleiman noted that the festival's program included, in addition to the competitions, specialized seminars discussing the future of media and the rapid developments in the sector, primarily artificial intelligence, as well as sessions covering various media topics, including tourism media and podcasts.
He also praised the popular success of the festival's opening ceremony, which witnessed a large turnout, with the participation of artists from various Arab countries and the presentation of artistic performances reflecting Arab diversity and the inclusive nature of the festival.
