From our position in the House of Representatives, this message places upon us the responsibility to prioritize public needs, follow up on employment, services, and the cost of living, and hold the government accountable for fulfilling its commitments and explaining delays. The royal reminder about parliamentary conduct and discourse calls for managing differences through argument, facts, and mutual respect—preserving the dignity of the House and enhancing its impact on public life.
This requires cooperation between the two authorities based on clear responsibilities: the government executes, while the parliament legislates and oversees. Agreement on national priorities must be matched with serious performance follow-up, demanding specific answers, and evaluating the impact of decisions before and after their implementation—thereby protecting citizens’ interests and giving parliamentary work clear practical value.
This is further connected to the message on the rule of law and rejecting abuse of office. Public office is a responsibility to serve citizens; state dignity is strengthened by fair procedures and equal application of the law, and public confidence that influence does not grant preferential treatment. It is the parliament’s duty to monitor institutional performance, address complaints, and hold the negligent accountable, as citizens’ daily experiences with administration form a fundamental part of their trust in the state.
Economically, the call to accelerate major projects shifts responsibility to the implementation field, requiring monitoring of timelines, overcoming obstacles, and measuring outcomes. The real value of these projects lies in their ability to create job opportunities, improve services, and deliver the benefits of development to governorates—factors that should guide our parliamentary debates and oversight of government spending and performance.
The royal emphasis on water security carries exceptional importance, given water’s link to societal stability and sustained economic activity. This necessitates monitoring strategic projects, efficient resource management, preparedness for risks, and ensuring these efforts translate into reliable and equitable service delivery. Protecting Jordanians’ water needs is a national responsibility requiring continuous planning and precise execution.
At the regional level, the speech reaffirmed Jordan’s consistent stance on Palestinian rights and the dangers of Israeli expansionist ambitions, reflecting the interconnection between the future of the Palestinian cause and regional security. In my view, strengthening Jordan’s internal power expands its ability to defend its interests and support the Palestinian people, making national cohesion, institutional efficiency, and development key pillars supporting its political position.
This is completed by affirming citizens’ right to discuss public affairs and respect differences—obligating us to provide serious space for opinion and transform legitimate demands into institutional action. The Speech of the Throne has set the priorities. The test for both government and parliament now lies in translating them into responsive legislation, effective oversight of implementation, timely project completion, improved services, and tangible results felt by Jordanians in their daily lives.
