Security and political expert Ahmed Bani Hamdan said on Wednesday that the drone parts and guidance devices recently seized in smuggling operations may be destined for gangs inside Jordan to use them in smuggling operations and electronically guide balloons, pointing to the possibility of cooperation between gangs in this field.
Bani Hamdan added that Jordan is facing challenges related to the escalation of drug smuggling attempts, stressing the need to fortify the internal front and enhance continuous awareness of the dangers of drugs.
The Southern Military Command thwarted on Tuesday an attempt to smuggle electronic control devices via a drone along its border within its area of responsibility.
Border Guard units managed to monitor the drone, deal with it, shoot it down inside Jordanian territory, and seize its cargo in coordination with the security and military agencies.
