Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi said that His Majesty King Abdullah II's visit to Australia aims to strengthen bilateral relations and expand areas of cooperation, particularly in economy, trade, investment, tourism, and culture, in addition to coordination regarding regional peace and stability issues.
In an interview with the Australian ABC television, Safadi added that there is a need for collective steps to stop the illegal Israeli measures that undermine the chances of achieving peace.
He valued Australia's recognition of the Palestinian state, stressing the necessity of fully implementing the plan to achieve stability in the Gaza Strip.
Safadi warned of the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip due to Israeli obstacles that prevent the entry of necessary humanitarian aid for more than two million Palestinians besieged by Israel in 30% of Gaza's area.
