Air raid sirens were sounded in Kyiv to warn of a Russian attack, following a three-day pause that coincided with the visit of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The capital's military administration reported that "air defense systems were activated in Kyiv," while emergency services indicated that buildings were damaged in the Boryspil and Fastiv districts on the outskirts of the capital.
For its part, the official Russian news agency "TASS" confirmed that "the three-day suspension of strikes on Kyiv, which was imposed for the visit of US negotiators to Ukraine, has ended."
Ukraine had also suspended its strikes targeting the Moscow region for the same reason.
Steve Witkoff, who made consecutive visits to both capitals over the weekend in his first trip to Ukraine since the outbreak of the war, said on Monday that this tour allowed for "substantial progress" toward organizing trilateral talks to end the war.
