Alexander Gintsburg, Director of the Gamaleya National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health, announced that Russia is making progress in efforts to develop and produce vaccines aimed at combating cancerous diseases.
Gintsburg explained that the Russian government, under the directives of President Vladimir Putin, has formed a consortium comprising specialized research institutions to work on developing these vaccines, confirming that the efforts made in this field are proceeding successfully.
He pointed out that the consortium is not limited to biological institutes, but also includes the Institute for System Programming, which has developed a domestic computer system aimed at facilitating the process of designing anti-tumor vaccines.
He added that this system allows for the analysis of the genetic information of a malignant tumor and its conversion into a design for a suitable vaccine, which helps stimulate the immune system to recognize and target cancer cells.
This step comes within the framework of Russian efforts to employ computational technologies and genetic research in developing new therapeutic methods to fight cancer.
