Roma sweeps Udinese with five goals and continues to chase the league lead

Roma continued its pursuit of league leaders Inter Milan and Lazio in the Italian Serie A, after securing a resounding 5-2 victory over their hosts Udinese on Saturday at the "Bluenergy" Stadium, as part of the tenth round of the competition.

With this victory, Roma maintained its unbeaten record in the league this season, achieving its seventh win alongside 3 draws, raising its tally to 24 points in third place, one point behind leaders Inter Milan and Lazio, while Udinese remained at 5 points in nineteenth (penultimate) place.

The capital team imposed its control over the proceedings from the first minutes, as Bryan Cristante opened the scoring in the 10th minute, before Portuguese Rodrigo Mora doubled the lead in the 31st minute, and Dutchman Donyell Malen added the third goal two minutes later.

Roma gave its host no chance to catch its breath, as Ivorian Evan Ndicka extended the lead with the fourth goal in the 37th minute with a header following an assist from Argentine Matias Soulé Malvano, ending the first half with a four-goal lead.

In the second half, Udinese tried to narrow the gap and get back into the match, and Nicolò Zaniolo succeeded in scoring the first goal in the 50th minute, before Matteo Palma added the second goal in the 78th minute.

However, Roma thwarted the hosts' comeback attempts, as Daniele Gilardi sealed his team's five-goal tally by scoring the fifth goal in the second minute of stoppage time.

In another match in the same round, Bologna defeated their guests Monza 2-1, raising their tally to 14 points in eighth place, level with Napoli and Juventus, while Monza remained at 7 points in sixteenth place.

Tommaso Pobega opened the scoring for Bologna in the 33rd minute, before Federico Bernardeschi added the second goal from a penalty kick in the 59th minute, while Gustavo Varela scored Monza's only goal from a penalty kick in the 6th minute.

Monza missed an opportunity to equalize in the 81st minute, after Polish goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski, Bologna's goalkeeper, saved a penalty kick taken by Patrick Cutrone.
