Inter Milan comes from behind to beat Bologna and strengthen its lead at the top of the Italian League

Inter Milan maintained its lead in the Italian Football League after coming from behind against its host Bologna to secure a valuable 3-1 victory on Saturday at the "Renato Dall'Ara" stadium, as part of the seventh round of the competition.

Inter Milan regained its balance following its thrilling 3-4 home defeat to Belgium's Club Brugge last Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League, achieving a win that solidifies its position at the top of the standings ahead of its upcoming fixtures.

Inter raised its tally to 19 points in first place, leading by 3 points over Torino, which faces its host Juventus on Sunday, while Bologna's tally froze at 5 points in fourteenth place.

The match started at a fast pace, and the hosts managed to catch their guests off guard in the tenth minute when Tommaso Pobega succeeded in penetrating Inter Milan's defense and shooting the ball into the net of Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer, giving Bologna a 1-0 lead.

Following the goal, Inter intensified its offensive pressure in search of an equalizer, and its players created a number of chances, but they faced difficulty in breaking through Bologna's organized defense, which maintained its lead despite the guests' repeated attempts.

Pobega almost doubled the score for the hosts after unleashing a powerful shot that hit the crossbar, wasting an opportunity to extend his team's lead.

Before the end of the first half, Inter managed to equalize when Frenchman Marcus Thuram rose to Nicolò Barella's cross and headed it into the net in the 44th minute, ending the first half of the match in a 1-1 draw.

In the second half, the visiting team continued its pressure in search of the leading goal amid resistance from Bologna's defense, until the 69th minute when Brazilian Carlos Augusto scored Inter's second goal, capitalizing on a low cross from Poland's Piotr Zieliński that he turned into the net.

In the 81st minute, Ivorian Ange-Yoan Bonny thought he had extended Inter's lead with a third goal, but the referee disallowed the goal for offside, before the same player returned to shake the net in the 83rd minute, benefiting from a pass by Carlos Augusto to confirm the visiting team's superiority and seal its 3-1 victory.
