The "Reading Marathon" event coincided with the National Reading Day, which falls on September 29 each year, and in line with the launch of the National Reading Strategy adopted by the Culture, Youth and Sports Committee in the Senate under the title "Towards a Reading Jordan".
The marathon aims to encourage reading, create small communities for it, and introduce readers to new books, within an atmosphere filled with learning and fun, and to establish the role of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Library in creating culture and spreading the act of reading, and making it a part of the lives of its visitors.
Qassisiya valued the efforts of the main partners of the Shoman Library, who contributed greatly to the success of the marathon events, namely the Ministries of Education, Human Resource Development, Youth, Culture, and the Greater Amman Municipality.
She confirmed that this year, the Foundation was keen to activate and enhance the participation of people with disabilities in the marathon by providing special places for them and Braille devices for the visually impaired, indicating that the Abdul Hameed Shoman Libraries are qualified for continuous use by this category.
In addition to reading various books, the marathon includes hosting many writers, intellectuals, and pioneers in the cultural field to talk about culture and enhance the cultural act in the Kingdom through the (Marathon Studio) that was established four years ago, where the studio broadcasts live the marathon and its accompanying events from the Foundation's center in Jabal Amman.
