The spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that the country seeks to facilitate reaching an agreement between the United States and Iran, even if it is short-term, to open the door for negotiations between the two sides.
He added that any dialogue between Washington and Tehran requires opening the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring there is no threat of using military force, noting that there is currently a significant lack of trust between the two parties, and each side is waiting for the other to surrender.
He explained that any agreement between Washington and Tehran will not be final, but will be sufficient to start the negotiation process, emphasizing the need for a sustainable diplomatic solution that achieves security guarantees for all countries in the region.
