Public Works: Young men's adventure in Ruwaished behind their vehicle's sinking.. and search for a missing person

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing revealed, on Monday, the details of a vehicle being swept away in the Ruwaished floods, its sinking, and the disappearance of one of its passengers.

The Ministry stated that despite repeated warnings about the danger of approaching flood channels and valleys, some irresponsible actions continue to put citizens' lives at risk.

It added that in the Ruwaished area in the Eastern Badia, rain continued to fall until 3:00 AM, and floodwaters coming from Saudi territory flowed toward the Lawrence Al-Shaalan Dam, before continuing their natural path toward Syrian territory after the dam overflowed.

It explained that a number of young men ventured with their vehicle into the flood path after waiting for the water to flow, which led to the vehicle being swept away by the force of the floods, despite the continuous warnings issued by the Public Security Directorate, Civil Defense, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Ministry of Local Administration, and the concerned authorities.

Security services and rescue teams, in the presence of Ruwaished Public Works office staff, were able to rescue two people, while search operations continue for a third person.

The Ministry emphasized that these practices confirm a disregard for warnings, noting that venturing into flood channels, regardless of the motives, can turn into a tragedy in moments.

It appealed to citizens to adhere to the instructions of the competent authorities, to stay away from valleys and flood channels, and not to attempt to cross them by vehicle or on foot under any circumstances, stressing that no scene is worth risking one's life, and no pleasure is worth endangering oneself and others.
