Public Parks

In our beloved capital, Amman, the number of public parks and gardens is nearly one hundred and fifty. I was personally pleased with Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan's directive to increase the number of parks to meet the citizens' need for adequate rest and to reconnect with nature away from the deaf stones in densely populated residential neighborhoods.

Urban planning provides green spaces incorporating techniques for maintenance, irrigation, care, lighting, monitoring, control, and selecting appropriate trees. This will restore the natural pattern of the area and attract birds and many creatures that once lived in Amman.

The team working on expanding public parks and gardens deserves praise and appreciation for their planning, execution, supervision, follow-up, and preservation of the aesthetic values of the place, thereby spreading joy and happiness to passersby and visitors who enjoy the public park with a civilized behavior worthy of the efforts exerted.

How wonderful it is when an elderly person sits in the park, a child plays quietly, and a family gathers together in a safe, healthy place away from smoking, shisha, and barbecues, enjoying a natural atmosphere close to their residence and practicing walking.

Public parks are an indicator of civilized progress, and maintaining them reflects the level of public awareness in preserving public property, true belonging, harmony, positive interaction with nature, and effective contribution to moral education.

I admire the many voluntary initiatives aimed at maintaining public cleanliness and the continuous, round-the-clock monitoring of public parks throughout the week by neighborhood residents, preventing vandalism, chaos, littering, and sabotage.

There are numerous studies on the importance of public parks and gardens, the return of native species to their habitats, as well as birds and other creatures, which form an integrated environmental dimension and a balance that brings back the joy of hearing the birds and sparrows singing anew.

The trend toward ecological parks is a scientific and practical approach to maintaining the desired balance between environmental heritage, restoring and multiplying many previously existing species, preserving what remains, and giving the public the opportunity to enjoy landscapes and recreation alike.

Preserving parks is a collective responsibility, whether in the capital or the governorates. What is delightful are the new projects to establish new parks, provide comfortable environments for families, plant trees, and properly beautify them.

Reading is a civilized practice and a companion to preserving public parks, reflecting a refined sense, moral maturity, good behavior towards public property, and enjoying modern transport networks connecting different regions.

It is also delightfully related to the establishment of new public schools in the coming years. We call for the creation of gardens both inside and outside school premises to provide encouraging atmospheres for students, especially when participating in tree planting and carrying out some voluntary work and services.

Parks are an asset for future generations, whom we hope will enjoy a beautiful life and a better future.
