We say this because Jordan is a stable and secure country, embracing many religious sites of major importance, foremost among which is the Baptism Site (Al-Maghtas), which is considered a destination for Christian pilgrimage in the East and attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the world. The importance of this site is manifested in the preparations to celebrate in 2030 the two-thousandth anniversary of the baptism of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, thereby enhancing Jordan's position as a global destination for Christian pilgrimage.
Hence, any attempt to raise concerns about the security of pilgrims or question the Kingdom's ability to receive them safely may contribute to destabilizing the image of a strong and cohesive Jordan. This is the danger that must be heeded; for harming Jordan's tourism image may transcend the boundaries of the incident to affect multiple sectors and aspects.
Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is proceeding with consolidating its security and stability, protecting its national unity, enhancing its regional and international standing, and continuing its efforts to highlight the Kingdom's religious and civilizational heritage, foremost of which is safeguarding holy sites and enhancing the status of Al-Maghtas as a global destination for Christian pilgrimage. These blessed efforts, alongside Jordan's reliance on the cohesion of its people and trust in its institutions, constitute an essential pillar for preserving its standing and enhancing its ability to face challenges.
May God have mercy on our righteous martyrs and inspire their families with patience and solace. By God's will, Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership and cohesive people, will remain an impregnable fortress in the face of anyone who covets its security or seeks to undermine its stability. Jordan is stronger in its unity, firmer in the cohesion of its people, and more capable of facing challenges whenever the will of Jordanians to protect their homeland increases.
