Priorities of the next phase for the Jordanian state

His Majesty King Abdullah II defined them during the opening of the third ordinary session of the 20th Parliament and the Speech from the Throne. He indicated that they derive their strength from Jordan’s power and the determination of sincere Jordanians, as many members of the Arab Army and security services have put their lives on the line, swearing that Jordan’s fence would remain impenetrable and its flag raised, lofty and towering, explaining that Jordan's strength lies in a people who, when hardships intensify, become more cohesive, insightful, and wise.

His Majesty's expressive words were led by the priority of combating terrorism and confronting it in all its forms and methods, and keeping a watchful eye on those who think they can touch the security and unity of the nation. This priority was manifested in His Majesty's statement: "They are not of us... they have broken away from our great Jordanian family... they have betrayed this family... there is no place for them among us... neither today nor tomorrow."

For this reason, His Majesty emphasized that Jordan was and will remain resilient against every brutal aggressor and formidable in the face of everyone who ignores the history of this nation, noting that this blessed land is protected by brave soldiers whose eyes do not sleep so that their people may sleep in peace.

The second priority was that the bet on the Jordanian is based on their awareness when paths become blurred, on their wisdom when emotions run high, and on their sincerity and loyalty when tribulations intensify, confirming that Jordan is firm in its stance and committed to its Arab identity and to defending the causes of the nation, just as his father, His Majesty King Hussein, was before him, and as the Crown Prince will be after him, so that the unified Arab word, even if it seems distant, remains the desired goal.

Meanwhile, the third and most precious priority is the assertion that the path to security and stability in the region will not be achieved without fulfilling the right of the Palestinian people to their land. Despite international calls to stop Israeli violations, the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza continues, as do the successive aggressions in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Israeli expansionist ambitions remain the greatest threat to the future and hopes of the region, noting that peoples will not forget, and as His Majesty clearly stated: "Whoever thinks that tyranny grants legitimacy is delusional, whoever thinks that time erases the truth is delusional, and whoever thinks that the Jordanian will retreat from his principles is also delusional."

The fourth priority focused on Parliament, which is the fundamental and primary pillar in political life, for the nation is the source of powers and the origin of its strength. Thus, the internal front becomes immune and protected, and a strong Jordan is better able to defend its interests and the causes of its nation, to be rising to its responsibilities, a support for its brothers, and a voice for the homeland. He said: "It is fitting for your council to be a voice for the homeland, a guardian of the public interest, and a watchdog over government performance, placing the interest of Jordanians first." He explained that difference in opinion is a strength as long as the interest of Jordan is the goal. Jordanians do not look only at the laws issued by this dome, but at the behavior and discourse that emanate from it, serving the interest of the Jordanian at the heart of every decision, not on its margins. True development is what the citizen feels in their livelihood, opportunities, education, healthcare, and the future of their children.

In the fifth priority, His Majesty focused on proceeding on the path of economic modernization, as work has begun on a number of major, ambitious projects that seek to boost the national economy, enhance its resilience, and build on Jordan’s pivotal role in the region, calling on the government to work on accelerating their completion.

The sixth priority came within the requirements of water security, which is a top national priority. His Majesty stated: "Water, water, water, water! Our water security is a national priority, and we will not allow the thirst of Jordanians to be held hostage to any circumstance; there is no room for compromise or appeasement in this." For this reason, the directive was, and always is, for the government to continue with water security projects and work on setting proactive plans to protect the nation's resources, ensuring their sustainability and the rights of future generations.

The seventh priority defined national tasks for everyone. His Majesty stated: "There is no place in our country and among us for those who think that public office is an honor that exempts them from work or serving people, and there is no immunity for anyone who abuses their position, whoever they may be. The prestige of the state and the rule of law take precedence over everything," emphasizing that the law knows no name, no position, and no influence. That is a clear policy for the future and for everyone without leniency or favoritism.

As for the eighth priority, it centered on the deliberation of public affairs, which is a legitimate right of the people and Jordanians, guaranteed and protected by the Constitution. Therefore, everyone should practice it with an open heart, just as Jordan is open to every sincere and responsible opinion. Whoever loves Jordan preserves for it the beauty of giving, the dignity of the word, and the etiquette of disagreement. That is a priority that will remain as long as His Majesty’s trust in us exists: the family, the clan, the trust, and our devotion to the land of Jordan, which is of great status and value.

These are national priorities defined by His Majesty, and we must all grasp and understand them, as they are royal messages and signs for the coming stages of the Jordanian state, undoubtedly.
