As is his custom, the King was specific and clear, as he is in all his speeches; clear goals and an even clearer vision for this country, its path, and its future.
The first axis is born of events, namely the treacherous hand of terrorism that Jordan continues to fight with strength, acting as a spearhead in confronting it. While the King bets on unity in the face of this, the Jordanian is first and foremost the firewall, which was evident in recent days, as the Jordanian family gathered to heal the wounds and thwart all attempts to sow discord.
The King never tires of placing the Palestinian cause at the forefront of all issues, for there is no stability or development without the Palestinian people obtaining their right to an independent state on their national soil. While the suffering, killing, displacement, and starvation have not ceased, the King reminds the world of its duties, all of which require unifying the Arab voice, something this country has based its principles on pushing for, and continues to do so.
Because the aforementioned requires a strong state enjoying a stable economy, the Economic Modernization Plan and major projects were introduced, leading to economic independence and resilience. A economically stable and recovering Jordan, where the citizen feels the impact of development, is the one capable of defending the nation’s causes and safeguarding its unity and strength.
And because a strong economy requires loyal men and women, public office is an honor, not a burden. An official who exploits their position for personal gain is a disease that must be eradicated according to the rule of law.
The water challenge, which the King pointed out with full clarity, is one of the major issues Jordan seeks to confront. Hence, the National Water Carrier project, which Jordan insisted on implementing despite obstacles; however, it does not stop demanding its water rights, and it will not turn a blind eye to them, because water is life and development.
The oversight role is one of the most important duties of the Parliament, requiring a strong body in both its discourse and conduct. What it must focus on most is the interest of Jordan and Jordanians, far from bickering and pettiness that serve no purpose, which is the role of the representatives of the people—the source of all powers under the Constitution.
All opinions, no matter how different, are needed; diversity and pluralism enrich the path. This diversity has conditions, the most important of which is respect for the law, and that it be for the sake of building and correction, not for inciting discord and strife. Freedom of opinion is protected under the Constitution.
