Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal patronized, on Saturday, the activities of the 62nd annual International Diplomatic Corps Charity Bazaar for the Mabarrat Um Al-Hussein for orphans, which is held this year under the slogan "The world in our bazaar and goodness for our children."
Thirty-five diplomatic missions accredited to the Royal Hashemite Court participated in this year's bazaar activities, which were held at Al-Hussein Youth City, with all proceeds dedicated to the Mabarrat.
The bazaar is an annual humanitarian event witnessed by the capital, Amman, a gathering place for diplomatic missions in Jordan, and an occasion to meet and learn about global civilizations and cultures.
In her opening remarks, Her Highness emphasized the importance of the humanitarian and charitable message embodied by this annual event, as it represents a global demonstration on the land of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to express the meanings and values of human solidarity and reaffirm commitment to them.
The Princess said, in the presence of the Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Amjad Al-Qahwi, ambassadors of participating countries and representatives of diplomatic missions, and the Executive Director of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), Farah Daghistani, that Mabarrat Um Al-Hussein has been, since its establishment in 1958, a haven for orphaned children facing difficult social and living conditions, providing them with shelter, care, and an environment that enables them to grow, learn, prepare for the future, achieve success, and boost their self-confidence.
Her Highness pointed to the Mabarrat's mission, which focuses on the commitment to ensuring that every child within its walls receives the appropriate opportunity to achieve their dreams and ambitions in a safe, stable, and stimulating environment that combines academic learning, extracurricular activities, and training.
Her Highness also praised the bazaar's message and the support it provides to the Mabarrat's mission and its humanitarian and charitable goals, which unite humanity, in addition to its importance in celebrating the diverse cultures, products, and cuisines of countries and peoples.
Her Highness expressed her appreciation to the diplomatic missions and bodies participating in the bazaar, and the various national institutions sponsoring and supporting its activities this year.
In turn, the Venezuelan Ambassador to the Kingdom, Omar Vielma Osuna, emphasized in the speech of the diplomatic corps that the diplomatic corps bazaar is a noble annual event for exchanging cultures and expressing commitment to solidarity for the rights of the targeted groups.
He said that the bazaar's ongoing journey over 62 years reflects a state of effort, perseverance, and cooperation for common, noble humanitarian goals, represented by supporting the Mabarrat Um Al-Hussein for orphans, ensuring the rights of children facing difficult living and family conditions, providing them with a decent life, equipping them with skills, and building their future to integrate into public life and the labor market.
Osuna indicated that the bazaar holds special importance for the diplomatic corps in the Kingdom, as it represents a symbol of coexistence at a time when peaceful coexistence around the world faces major challenges due to wars, displacement, insecurity, and inequality.
He explained that these charitable meetings of various nationalities, in light of these circumstances, carry a human value that deserves appreciation for the benefit they represent to others and their contribution to improving their lives.
Osuna expressed his appreciation to the diplomatic missions and bodies participating in the bazaar and those in charge of it, stressing the importance of preserving this legacy for future generations and as an incentive for them to engage in the life of their communities with responsibility and commitment.
Her Highness toured the corridors of the bazaar and viewed the exhibits, which included handmade products, crafts, and food that embodied global cultural and civilizational diversity.
The bazaar's activities also included folklore performances by a number of participating countries, reflecting the global cultural heritage.
The bazaar witnessed a large turnout of citizens who flocked to its various pavilions, seeing it as an opportunity to learn about global cultures and civilizations and to contribute to supporting the Mabarrat and its humanitarian and charitable goals.
