Argentine President Javier Milei expressed his hope on Wednesday that US President Donald Trump will emerge stronger from the midterm elections, in a speech he delivered in Washington where he received an award from an association representing Hispanic people.
Milei said at the "Hispanic Heritage" event, "It is important, not only for the United States but for the entire West... that President Trump emerges stronger from the November elections, as we cannot retreat even an inch in our efforts to regain our influence in this hemisphere."
He added, "Winning is only the first step. Now we have a mandate to make the Americas great again."
Milei arrived in Washington on Wednesday to meet with investors and attend the event. He is scheduled to deliver another speech on Thursday at the US Chamber of Commerce.
Latin America and the Caribbean have witnessed a major shift to the right in recent years, a pace that has accelerated since Trump's return to the White House.
