The Petra Development and Tourism Authority launched a project to divide four basins in areas belonging to the Petra region, as a developmental and planning step aimed at organizing urban expansion, meeting the needs of the local community, and providing organized areas for development and investment, in line with the uniqueness of the Petra region and its historical, archaeological, and environmental value.
The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Region Authority, Engineer Adnan Al-Suwaeiir, said that launching the division project represents an important step towards organizing the future of urban development in Wadi Musa, and providing organized lands that meet the needs of the local community, and support urban expansion according to clear and sustainable planning principles.
Al-Suwaeiir added that the project comes within the authority's directions aimed at organizing land uses and reducing random expansion, in a way that achieves the optimal use of land, improves the efficiency of urban planning, services, and infrastructure, and prepares a suitable environment for development and investment.
The division project includes four basins in the Wadi Musa area, with an estimated total area of about 10.5 square kilometers.
Al-Suwaeiir explained that the project will provide organized urban areas that respond to the current and future needs of the region, and provide better options for the local community to expand and build within clear regulatory and planning frameworks, in addition to enhancing the investment environment and opening the door to new developmental and economic projects.
He pointed out that the division project will contribute to organizing land uses and providing a planning base for future expansion in services, facilities, and infrastructure, which enhances balanced development in Wadi Musa and improves the efficiency of available land investment.
Al-Suwaeiir pointed out that the project also includes working to create an organized industrial area, which contributes to organizing industrial and craft activities and supporting services, providing a suitable environment for these activities, and enhancing job opportunities and economic activity in the region.
Al-Suwaeiir confirmed that the authority paid special attention during the preparation of the project to preserve the visual landscape and urban and environmental character of the region, ensuring the harmony of urban development with the uniqueness of Petra and its historical and tourist status.
Al-Suwaeiir revealed that the Petra Region Authority will continue to implement planning, organization, and urban development projects that improve the quality of life in the region, support the local economy, and create an attractive investment environment, while preserving Petra's identity, visual landscape, and heritage value for future generations.
