Palestinian Prime Minister Discusses with the World Bank Ways to Mobilize Financial Support for Palestine

Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa discussed, on Sunday, with the Director General of Operations at the World Bank in Washington, Anna Perdei, via video call, in the presence of the Minister of Finance and Planning, Ishtafan Salama, ways to mobilize financial support for development projects in Palestine in addition to direct support for the budget, in light of the urgent need and the financial crisis due to Israeli measures and the continued detention of Palestinian tax revenues.

The Palestinian Prime Minister stressed the importance of supporting the health and education sectors, in addition to direct support for the budget, in order to ensure the continued provision of services to Palestinians, and urged donors to provide support through the World Bank or directly, especially with the meetings that will be held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly this week.

Mustafa appreciated the continuous support provided by the World Bank to the Palestinian people and national institutions, especially in the current circumstances.

For her part, Perdei confirmed the continued partnership of the World Bank and its support for Palestine in difficult humanitarian and economic circumstances, and discussed priorities for support in the short-term and medium-term.
