The people of Karak Governorate affirmed the cohesion of the social fabric and standing as one, like a solid structure, in the face of anyone who attempts to tamper with the nation's security and stability, or undermine its inclusive national unity and sacred fabric behind the wise Hashemite leadership, pointing out that Karak will remain, as it has always been, a living model of brotherhood, unity of blood and history, diversity, and absolute rallying around the lofty national banner.
This came in a statement issued following a meeting called for by a group of the governorate's people, stemming from the national and historical responsibility that proud Karak has carried throughout the ages, following the heinous terrorist operation that targeted Hamoud Church in Karak, in which (9) martyrs died and dozens were injured.
In their statement, they said that targeting Karak at Hamoud Church constitutes a dangerous, condemned precedent that cannot be ignored and will not be erased by time from the national memory; as we consider this sinful assault a direct and targeted attack on all the people of Karak and Jordan without exception, and we all stand with our families in our great affliction.
They added that the terrorists' desperate attempts to sow discord among the members of one body have failed miserably, and the solemn national funeral for the righteous martyrs, in which all the governorates of the nation participated, came as conclusive evidence and bright proof of the people's cohesion and their unity, which is resistant to division, breaking, and infiltration. Hence, they called on all Jordanians to strengthen social ties and consolidate common national denominators that do not accept division or interpretation.
They further stated that while we denounce and condemn in the strongest terms terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and condemn the dark ideology and the actions of the rogue Kharijites that have nothing to do with the true religion or humanity, we declare clearly and unequivocally that our war is not only against physical terrorism, but we are pursuing and fighting its promoters, the creators of its discourse, and its theorists in the digital space and social media platforms, emphasizing that whoever justifies or promotes terrorism is an original partner in the crime, and any leniency with them is considered a direct threat to social peace and the future of generations.
They emphasized that houses of God and all places of worship have absolute sanctity and protected inviolability that no one is allowed to violate or exploit to spread division and discord, and our mosques and churches will remain beacons of guidance, faith, peace, and love, and we will stand in wait for anyone who attempts to desecrate this sanctity or use it as platforms to spread extremist ideology or incitement.
They stressed the importance of implementing the Royal orders and directives to prepare a national strategy to combat terrorism and its rapid implementation, and the necessity of integrated work between official institutions and civil society institutions to close all gaps that may be exploited by those with deviant ideology, and serious work to fortify the internal front by activating monitoring and awareness tools, developing an enlightened moderate educational discourse, empowering youth and providing them with real opportunities, to completely close the doors to any attempts at infiltration or deceiving the youth, and protecting the minds of our children from misguided intellectual poisons.
On behalf of all the people and tribes of Karak, they extended their thanks to the Hashemite leadership, the Jordanian people, public and civil institutions, and all international forums whose position had the greatest positive impact in alleviating the great affliction. They also valued the tremendous efforts of all security and official agencies for the measures they took to reach the criminals and arrest them.
