Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Dana Al-Zoubi, emphasized the importance of strengthening the economic and trade partnership between Jordan and the European Union countries, and expanding the horizons of joint cooperation in a way that contributes to increasing national exports and opening new markets for Jordanian products.
During a ceremony honoring the former chairpersons and board members of the European Business Chamber of Jordan and the launch of its new committees on Wednesday, Al-Zoubi said that the European Union is at the forefront of the Kingdom's economic and trade partners, noting that Jordanian-European relations have witnessed remarkable development over the past years, reflecting the strength of the existing partnership between the two sides.
She added that Jordanian exports to the European Union witnessed significant growth last year, rising by 39 percent to reach 881 million dollars, and continued to improve during the first 7 months of the current year, rising by 20 percent compared to the same period in 2025, to reach 518 million dollars.
She indicated that this growth was achieved in light of challenges related to high shipping costs and supply chain disruptions, which reflects the ability of the Jordanian industrial sector to enhance its presence in foreign markets, stressing that these results are a source of pride, but at the same time constitute an incentive to continue working to increase national exports.
She affirmed the Ministry's keenness to enhance cooperation with European partners, increase the access of Jordanian products to European Union markets, and work to overcome the challenges facing national exports, primarily by enhancing the utilization of the decision to simplify rules of origin.
She pointed to the importance of continuing to work with the European side regarding rules of origin, in a way that allows the Jordanian industrial sector to benefit more from the opportunities available in European markets.
She stated that the European Business Chamber of Jordan has an important role in enhancing direct communication between the Jordanian and European business communities, expanding dialogue on economic and investment opportunities, and building sustainable strategic partnerships that serve common interests.
She emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination between the Ministry, the Chamber, and the concerned authorities, in a way that contributes to transforming cooperation opportunities into practical projects and initiatives.
She said that the government continues to work on implementing the Economic Modernization Vision, which represents a roadmap for developing the national economy, enhancing its competitiveness, stimulating investment, increasing exports, and providing job opportunities, noting the importance of partnership with the private sector in achieving these goals, as it is a key partner in economic growth and providing added value.
She added that the Ministry is working on implementing the second phase of the National Export Strategy, which contributes to diversifying export markets and enhancing the presence of Jordanian products in global markets, primarily the markets of European Union countries.
She explained that these efforts are integrated with other government policies and strategies, including the Industrial Strategy for the years (2024-2028), which supports the achievement of national economic goals.
She indicated that developing the institutional work of the European Business Chamber of Jordan and launching its specialized committees constitute an important step to enhance its role in serving the business community and expanding the areas of economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Jordan and European Union countries.
Al-Zoubi affirmed the Ministry's keenness to continue cooperation with its strategic partners, the European Business Chamber of Jordan, the European Union, and various private sector institutions, to support initiatives that contribute to strengthening economic and trade relations, expanding cooperation and investment opportunities, and enabling the private sector to perform its role in achieving sustainable economic development.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the Chamber's Chairman, Engineer Mohammad Al-Samadi, recalled in his speech "with all sadness and sorrow the martyrs of the nation who ascended as a result of the cowardly terrorist act in the town of Hamoud in Karak, in a sinful attack on innocent lives and the values of love, tolerance, and brotherhood that characterize our Jordanian society."
He reiterated the Chamber's condemnation of this treacherous terrorist act, stressing that everyone stands as one line behind the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in confronting terrorism and extremism, and preserving Jordan's security, stability, and national unity.
He affirmed that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, will remain a model of coexistence and brotherhood, and that "our national unity and the cohesion of our internal front" will remain the impenetrable dam in the face of anyone who tries to tamper with the security of our homeland or undermine its social fabric.
Al-Samadi pointed to the government's interest in strengthening the partnership with private sector institutions and its belief in their pivotal role in supporting the national economy, stimulating investment, and expanding the horizons of economic cooperation with international partners.
He pointed out that successive boards of directors have contributed to consolidating the Chamber's presence and enhancing its position as a bridge for communication between the Jordanian and European business communities, and a platform for exchanging experiences, building partnerships, and opening horizons for economic cooperation.
He said that the Chamber views Jordanian-European relations as a strategic partnership that goes beyond the limits of traditional trade exchange to include investment, technology transfer, knowledge exchange, business development, job creation, and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.
He added that the European Union represents an important economic, trade, and investment partner for Jordan, and the existing relations between the two sides provide a broad ground to build upon, especially in light of the joint trend towards expanding economic cooperation and enhancing investments in sectors with added value.
He said that the Chamber's responsibility stands out not only as a link between the Jordanian and European business communities, but as an active economic partner capable of contributing to building qualitative partnerships, facilitating communication between investors, introducing investment opportunities, and supporting Jordanian companies in accessing European markets.
Al-Samadi added that one of the roles the Chamber seeks to strengthen is attracting European companies operating in the Kingdom that wish to enter the Jordanian market to join its membership, and facilitating their business in Jordan, which enhances their presence in the local market and expands the opportunities for economic and investment cooperation between Jordanian and European companies.
He explained that the efforts Jordan is witnessing to develop the investment environment and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy, within the framework of the Economic Modernization Vision, place double responsibilities on private sector institutions to contribute to achieving the goals of growth and sustainable development.
He affirmed that the Chamber looks forward to expanding its role in supporting these efforts and working in coordination with government agencies, economic institutions, and European partners to transform available opportunities into real investments and productive partnerships.
He believed that the sectors of industry, renewable energy, technology, logistics, value-added industries, and other promising sectors provide important opportunities for developing cooperation between Jordanian and European companies.
Al-Samadi emphasized the importance of enabling small and medium-sized enterprises to benefit from this partnership, enhancing their ability to access foreign markets, and linking them to European supply and production chains, which contributes to increasing exports and providing job opportunities.
He pointed out that the Jordanian-European Investment Conference represents an important milestone in the path of developing economic and investment relations between Jordan and the European Union, and a strategic opportunity that should be built upon to enhance Jordan's presence on the European investment map, introduce its competitive advantages, and highlight the opportunities available in various economic sectors.
He stressed the necessity of transforming its outcomes into action programs, investment projects, and sustainable partnerships that achieve added value for the national economy, confirming that the Chamber looks forward to being an active partner in building on the conference's outcomes, enhancing communication between Jordanian and European companies, and following up on opportunities that can be translated into tangible economic and investment cooperation.
He indicated that the next phase in the Chamber's journey requires developing institutional work tools, expanding member participation, and enhancing its ability to provide value-added services to the business community, which prompted it to launch multiple committees as a practical step towards a new phase of work based on specialization, participation, distribution of responsibilities, and benefiting from diverse experiences.
He pointed out that the Chamber relies heavily on the Governance Committee to enhance the principles of transparency and accountability and develop institutional performance, and the Membership Committee to expand the base of members, enhance communication with them, and meet their needs, while it looks forward to the Businesswomen's Committee contributing to expanding women's participation in economic activity and supporting their presence in the fields of trade, investment, and entrepreneurship.
Al-Samadi affirmed that the Chamber believes that Jordan possesses the components, opportunities, and competencies that qualify it to enhance its position as an important economic and investment partner, while everyone's responsibility is to transform these components into results and achievements.
It is noteworthy that the European Business Chamber of Jordan was launched in the second half of last year, 2025, culminating in three decades of work within the Jordan Europe Business Association (JEBA), to be an independent organization representing the interests of European and Jordanian companies with a European orientation.
The Chamber works to enhance trade and investment between Jordan and European countries within the framework of the Jordanian-European Partnership Agreement, in addition to building effective dialogue bridges between the private sector and decision-makers at both the Jordanian and European levels, which contributes to developing the business environment and enhancing economic relations between the two sides.
