Amman —

Our blood is one, and Jordan is resilient against strife

Jordan relies today on the awareness of its people and the strength of their unity in facing the ordeal that has pained us all. This places us before a national responsibility that cannot tolerate complacency; protecting our society begins with a firm stance that rejects incitement, stops rumors, and blocks every attempt to exploit Jordanian blood to strike at our unity, security, and stability.

The bloody crime that targeted Saint George's Church in the safe village of Hammoud has left a deep wound in the conscience of Jordanians and burdened our hearts with the loss of dear sons of this homeland. The attack on the church struck all of Jordan, touched its values, security, and the bonds of brotherhood among its people, and made standing by the bereaved and safeguarding their feelings and the dignity of their victims a duty for us all.

The scale of the tragedy demands an awareness equal to its magnitude; anger requires responsibility to control it, and grief necessitates cohesion to protect society from its repercussions. No one has the right to turn the victims' blood into fuel for discord or a means to settle scores. Every discourse that pushes Jordanians to doubt one another or hold any group responsible for the crime widens the circle of harm and opens a door to strife that must be firmly closed.

The confrontation begins with the behavior of each one of us: from a piece of news we verify before publishing, to a message we stop circulating when we lack evidence of its accuracy, to a comment we reject when it incites hatred. Reposting a rumor gives it strength and reach, and circulating accusations doubles the damage. Responsibility requires refraining from promoting unknown narratives and speculations that toy with people's emotions and capitalize on their fear and anger.

The sanctity of Jordanian blood is a unifying value that does not accept selectivity, and the dignity and security of Jordanians are a fixed right that is not affected by differences in religion or opinion. Any insult to a component of our society affects the entire nation; therefore, rejecting incitement, generalization, and accusations of treason is a national duty, and protecting our unity is a responsibility borne by everyone who writes, speaks, or publishes, regardless of their position or the size of their audience.

In light of the regional and international challenges surrounding the Kingdom, closing ranks and standing behind our Hashemite leadership becomes a national necessity. This position requires overcoming the disputes that drain our society, exercising discipline in word and deed, and refusing to be drawn into any discourse that seeks to ignite hostility among the people of the same nation.

We condemn this crime in the strongest terms, we uphold the right of our people to security, dignity, and tranquility, and we bear the responsibility of safeguarding our homeland from every attempt to undermine its cohesion; for Jordan needs today a vigilant awareness, a responsible word, and a firm stance that contains strife and prevents its spread.

Our blood is one, our grief is one, and our homeland is our collective responsibility. We will protect our unity with an awareness that cannot be lured, and a will that does not allow the pain of Jordanians to become a gateway for tampering with their security and the future of their children.
