Ofuq Association for Cinema and Visual Arts elects its new board

The Ofuq Association for Cinema and Visual Arts has elected its new administrative board, in a move aimed at continuing its work in supporting cinema and visual arts, strengthening its presence in the Jordanian cultural scene, and expanding opportunities for directors, artists, and those interested in image-making.

The elections took place during a meeting of the administrative body in the presence of the Ministry of Culture representative, Dr. Abdullah Al-Azzam, Head of the Associations Department at the Irbid Directorate of Culture. The results led to the selection of director Adnan Al-Zoubi as President of the Association, Dr. Mohammed Affan as Vice President, director Ismail Al-Safadi as Secretary, Dr. Yousef Al-Jarrah as Treasurer, and the membership of directors Raafat Bani Salameh, Hassan Bani Younes, and Abdullah Rababa'a.

The election of the new board comes at a time when efforts are increasing to enhance the cinematic presence in the north of the Kingdom, develop artistic and production capabilities, and open the field for local talent to participate in filmmaking and visual projects.

In this context, Irbid Governorate is witnessing moves to develop services and infrastructure supporting film production, alongside preparations for organizing the Irbid International Film Festival in 2027, as reported by the Jordan News Agency (Petra). These moves provide a broader context for the work of bodies concerned with cinema and visual arts in the governorate, and highlight the importance of cooperation between cultural and artistic institutions to support local talent and production.

The Irbid Directorate of Culture is considered one of the supporting entities for the cultural movement in the governorate, through cooperation with cultural bodies and associations and the organization of artistic and training events, which provides spaces for showcasing creative works and developing artistic skills.

It is expected that the new administrative board will continue the association's work in accordance with its approved goals and programs, while details of upcoming activities, production plans, and training remain subject to an official announcement by the association.
