The spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that the incident involving a Fly Dubai plane carrying Israelis, which led to its diversion and landing in Saudi Arabia, is not a hijacking, while Israeli media reported that the incident is no longer classified as a security incident.
Israeli media reported that assessments by Israeli agencies indicate that the change in the flight route between the UAE and Israel was not the result of a hijacking.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that the security discussion involving Netanyahu and the Minister of Defense regarding the plane has concluded, and that "the event is not security-related."
Media reports indicated that the plane landed in Saudi Arabia, while various narratives in Israeli media emerged regarding the reason for the change in its route and the confusion that accompanied the flight.
Among the narratives reported by Israeli media was that a dispute occurred between the pilots, leading to the accidental pressing of the emergency button, without a final clarification of the cause of the incident.
Earlier, Israeli media reported an incident on board a Fly Dubai plane heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv with about 100 Israelis on board, which led to its diversion.
Walla reported that the plane returned to Dubai, while it was being investigated whether the incident was of a security nature or due to a technical malfunction.
Channel 12 also reported a report of a "security incident" on board the plane, noting that it took off from Dubai towards Tel Aviv before changing its route.
