Mutah and Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi events: Criminal acts are an assault on human values and religious principles

Mutah University, represented by its President Dr. Salameh Al-Naimat and its academic, administrative, and student body, condemned the terrorist act that targeted the nation's security and the safety of its citizens in the village of Hamoud in Karak Governorate, which claimed the lives of a number of citizens, affirming its categorical rejection of all forms of terrorism, extremism, and violence that target the security and stability of society and seek to undermine the unity of Jordanians and their national fabric.

The university emphasized that these criminal acts represent an assault on human values and the principles of monotheistic religions that call for mercy, tolerance, and the preservation of human life, and constitute a violation of the sanctity of places of worship and the values of religious coexistence and social harmony that Jordanians have established throughout their history, stressing that such practices will not undermine the unity and cohesion of the Jordanian people, nor will they affect the strength of their national bond.

The university stressed the importance of promoting the values of dialogue, respect for others, and the rejection of hatred and extremism, and rejecting all forms of incitement to violence or justification for attacks on innocent people, in a way that contributes to consolidating a culture of tolerance and enhancing social peace, confirming that Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership and with the awareness and cohesion of its people, will remain strong and cohesive in the face of challenges that target its security and stability.

In the same context, the Mutah University Student Union Council denounced the terrorist act that claimed the lives of a number of local community members in the village of Hamoud in Karak Governorate, expressing its deep sadness and regret over this attack, and extending its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the victims, asking God Almighty to cover them with His vast mercy and to grant the injured a speedy recovery.

The Council affirmed its firm rallying around the Hashemite leadership and its categorical rejection of extremism and terrorism, stressing the necessity of holding the perpetrators accountable and imposing penalties on them in accordance with the provisions of the law, in a way that ensures the achievement of justice and the preservation of community security and the safety of citizens.

The Council recalled the affirmations of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein in confronting the terrorist act that targeted Karak, and His Majesty's firm stance in protecting the unity of Jordanians and confronting all attempts to undermine the security and stability of the homeland, confirming that the people of Jordan, from its north to its south, are united by a single national belonging and a common destiny, and that attempts to sow discord among them will not succeed in shaking their cohesion or harming their unity.

For her part, the Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Directorate of Education for the Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi District, Dr. Etemad Al-Jaafreh, condemned in the strongest terms of denunciation and condemnation the criminal attack that targeted the church in the village of Hamoud in Karak Governorate, confirming that this sinful act contradicts the essence of human values and the principles of tolerance and coexistence, and constitutes an assault on the sanctity of places of worship, which should remain places of security, tranquility, and the practice of religious rites with freedom and respect.

Al-Jaafreh said that this attack does not only represent a crime that requires condemnation and accountability, but also constitutes an alarm bell that confirms the importance of protecting societal awareness from hate speech, immunizing generations against extremist ideology, and strengthening national, educational, and moral responsibility in the face of everything that threatens social peace or offends the values of citizenship.

Al-Jaafreh affirmed that schools will remain beacons of awareness and moderation, and bastions of national and human values, working to consolidate the concepts of dialogue, acceptance of the other, and the rejection of intolerance, and educating students that difference does not justify hostility, that the sanctity of the human being and places of worship is a red line that must not be crossed, and that the unity of Jordanians is not just a slogan, but a firm approach confirmed by national stances and proven by hardships.

She pointed out that educational responsibility requires continuing efforts aimed at strengthening national belonging and developing students' awareness of the dangers of extremist ideology and its effects on individuals and societies, in addition to promoting the values of tolerance, cooperation, and respect for diversity, which contributes to building a conscious generation capable of protecting the nation's achievements and preserving its social fabric.

Al-Jaafreh stressed that Karak Governorate, with its long national history and authentic values, will remain a model of brotherhood and cohesion, and that Jordan, with its Hashemite leadership and its authentic people, is stronger than all attempts to tamper with its unity and national fabric, confirming that the solidarity and cohesion among Jordanians constitute a safety valve in the face of various challenges.
