Minister of Investment: Jordan is progressing positively on the path of economic and investment modernization

Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh confirmed on Wednesday that Jordan is moving positively on the path of economic and investment modernization, based on the executive plan for the Economic Modernization Vision.

Abu Ghazaleh pointed out that current economic growth indicators reflect the robustness of the national economy and its ability to overcome regional challenges and transform them into opportunities for growth and partnership with the private sector.

He said that the government is working to maximize the share of the national economy in proposed investment projects by implementing a new policy based on encouraging local alliances and adopting a local component of no less than 30% in partnership projects launched by the government.

He explained that this strategic direction would expand the participation of the Jordanian private sector and double the economic impact of development and investment projects, noting that the ministry is working on implementing a plan for development, industrial, and free zones, which has been developed and improved in cooperation with developers, contributing to enhancing investment growth in the governorates and creating job opportunities, especially outside the capital, Amman.

Regarding Jordan's position on the investment map, Abu Ghazaleh said that the ministry is focusing on strengthening the Kingdom's position as a "safe gateway and investment partner in the Arab region," and an effective link to facilitate investment and support economic connectivity with surrounding Arab countries, including Syria and Iraq, in addition to strengthening ties with economic entities in Europe, America, and East Asia.

Regarding the Jordanian-European Investment Conference scheduled to be held in the Dead Sea area in November, he confirmed that Prime Minister Jafar Hassan is closely following the preparations for the conference, noting that the conference represents a pivotal milestone to benefit from the partnership between Jordan and the European Union, and that work is focused on promoting the conference, preparing investment opportunities, identifying target markets, and connecting the Jordanian private sector with economic partnerships with entities from European Union countries.

He added that the preparations also include highlighting the updates witnessed in legislation and simplifying procedures related to investors and licensing, which the government has worked to develop over the past months.

Abu Ghazaleh pointed out that existing European investments in Jordan are notably concentrated from Germany and Italy, in addition to the United Kingdom, which is outside the European Union but is part of the European continent, confirming the ministry's aspiration to increase these investments by communicating with other countries and entities, coordinating on investment opportunities, and being open to the ideas of the European private sector and connecting them with the Jordanian private sector.

He indicated that the conference will bring together investors, banks, and investment funds, contributing to linking these components and supporting the investment opportunities proposed by the government and the private sector.
