Man with special needs killed by Israeli fire in southern Syria

A man with special needs was killed by Israeli occupation fire on Thursday in southern Syria, according to the official news agency "SANA," at a time when Israel is intensifying the pace of its operations inside Syrian territory recently.

The agency reported that "a civilian with special needs was killed today, Thursday, by Israeli occupation forces' gunfire during their incursion into the village of Jamla" in the western countryside of Daraa.

It reported the deployment of Israeli forces in one of the town's neighborhoods and the positioning of snipers on the roofs of residential houses, coinciding with their movement in the area, which was subjected to artillery shelling on Wednesday evening.

Syria accuses Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement through the repeated incursions of its forces into the south of the country, raiding residents' homes and arresting individuals, in parallel with carrying out artillery shelling, bulldozing operations, and cutting down trees.

In recent days, Israeli forces have worked to bulldoze vast fields planted with olive trees in Quneitra Governorate, adjacent to Daraa.

SANA agency reported on Monday that "Israeli occupation forces bulldozed... on Sunday, about 13 dunams planted with olive trees" in the vicinity of the village of Saida in the southern Quneitra countryside, and prevented the residents from reaching the rest of their fields to harvest the olive crop.

The latter village is considered the last inhabited one adjacent to the area into which the Israeli occupation forces have encroached and are building fortifications that raise the residents' concerns.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in a statement on Sunday the "escalation of Israeli occupation incursions in Quneitra Governorate and the Daraa countryside," in what it considered a "flagrant violation of the country's sovereignty" and "territorial integrity."
