Launch of the Good Governance Guide for Associations and Non-Profit Companies

Minister of Social Development and Chairperson of the Societies Registry Board, Wafaa Bani Mustafa, sponsored the launch of the Good Governance Guide for Associations and Non-Profit Companies on Wednesday. The guide aims to promote the principles of governance, transparency, and institutional management within associations and non-profit companies, contributing to improving the efficiency of resource utilization according to the best standards, and ensuring the sustainable developmental impact of charitable work in local communities.

Bani Mustafa stated that the Good Governance Guide for Associations and Non-Profit Companies represents a practical step toward strengthening institutional work and consolidating the principles of transparency and accountability in associations and civil society organizations, ensuring improved performance efficiency, optimal resource management, and enhanced community and partner trust in the associations sector.

She pointed to the need to strengthen the capabilities of institutions and their internal governance, in addition to what meetings, training programs, and supervisory visits revealed regarding the necessity of updating the previous guide and providing a more comprehensive reference that is better suited to the sector's needs.

Bani Mustafa added that the guide represents an important pillar in supporting the associations classification project currently being worked on by the Societies Registry Department, by providing a reference framework that helps associations identify strengths and areas for improvement, and guides capacity-building and support programs according to actual needs.

She highlighted the Ministry of Social Development's commitment, through the Societies Registry Department, to ensure the guide serves as a practical, applicable tool that helps associations and non-profit companies enhance transparency, disclosure, accountability, internal control, risk management, and institutional performance development.

She explained that the guide was prepared using a participatory approach, in cooperation with Rasheed (Transparency International – Jordan) and the Justice Center for Legal Aid, as part of the "Empowered and Connected" project funded by the European Union, with the participation of the Companies Control Department, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, and the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, alongside a number of associations, which contributed to enriching its content and adding practical models and tools that respond to the reality and needs of the sector.
