"Land and Man" is the theme of the Fourth Balqa Cultural Conference at the National Library

Under the patronage of Minister of Culture Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, the activities of the Fourth Balqa Cultural Conference kicked off today, Monday, at the National Library Department. The conference is organized by the Salt Cultural Forum in cooperation with the National Library Department and the Balqa Directorate of Culture, under the title "Land and Man: Pillars of the Jordanian Narrative to Enhance Awareness and Consolidate Belonging," with the participation of a group of academics, researchers, and intellectuals, and in the presence of the Director General of the National Library, Firas Al-Dharab'ah.

The conference, which will continue for two days, aims to shed light on the pillars of the Jordanian national narrative and review its historical, political, economic, social, and cultural dimensions, as well as its role in strengthening national identity and consolidating awareness of the Jordanian memory, through research papers and studies that address the journey of the Jordanian state and its development across various stages.

The conference program includes four main themes that address multiple aspects of the national narrative, allowing researchers and participants to exchange opinions and experiences and discuss the most prominent historical milestones that contributed to shaping the features of the Jordanian identity and enhancing its presence.

The first theme examines the political and economic contexts of the Jordanian narrative through working papers that address land and man as the foundation for forming the Jordanian identity, the development of the economic reality in the Kingdom in light of the pillars of the national narrative, and the pivotal role that Jordan has played throughout the ages.

The second theme addresses the Jordanian narrative and the development of tribal judiciary, in addition to the presence of the narrative in Jordanian architecture and its role in enhancing social cohesion. Meanwhile, the third theme sheds light on Jordanian success stories by reviewing the journey of cultural and media work and the labor movement, alongside national models and experiences that reflect achievement and creativity in various fields.

The fourth theme is dedicated to Jordanian national figures, through research papers that review the biographies of individuals who contributed to building state institutions, left prominent marks on Jordan's history and its political, social, and cultural journey, and helped shape the features of its national identity.

The conference is held within the framework of efforts aimed at documenting the Jordanian national memory, highlighting the components of national identity, and deepening scientific dialogue about the history of the Jordanian state and its journey, in a way that enhances knowledge of the national heritage and contributes to its preservation and transmission to future generations, based on research, documentation, and analysis.
