"Karak Citadel" Enhances Women Leaders' Capacities in Karak with Digital Safety

Karak Citadel Consulting and Training Center, in collaboration with (SecDev) and supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), implemented an advanced technical training in digital safety for women leaders in Karak Governorate as part of a program being executed in four governorates of the Southern Region: Karak, Tafila, Ma'an, and Aqaba, aiming to reach women leaders in various governorates of the Kingdom.

According to those responsible, the training program aimed to enhance the practical capabilities of women leaders and empower them to protect their accounts, devices, and digital presence, especially in light of their participation in public and community work.

They pointed out that the training focused primarily on direct application using participants' phones and accounts, including securing accounts and email, activating two-factor authentication, reviewing linked devices, protecting phones, and privacy settings on Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat applications.

It also addressed the protection of pages and accounts related to public work, recognizing attempts at phishing, fraud, and identity theft, mechanisms for responding to digital breaches and violations, and preserving and documenting evidence.

They explained that the program also included a special session with the Cybercrime Unit, focusing on when and how to report digital crimes and violations, what evidence should be kept, and the practical steps women can take when exposed to blackmail, hacking, threats, or identity theft, in addition to clarifying the support paths and procedures followed after filing a report.

The training allocated an application space for individually reviewing participants' accounts, so that each participant came out with clear protection steps applied practically to their accounts and devices, helping them to manage their digital presence more safely and confidently.
