"KADDB": 50% of companies participating in "SOFEX" are interested in artificial intelligence and drones

The spokesperson for the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), Mutaz Al-Otaibi, said on Tuesday that about 50% of the companies participating in the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) are interested in emerging technologies, future technologies, unmanned systems, and drones.

Al-Otaibi added that the bureau is introducing about 49 new products during the fifteenth edition of the exhibition, a number of which focus on future technologies, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, virtual reality, and encryption.

He explained that 18 of the new products and solutions fall within these fields, which are witnessing increasing interest in both the military and civilian sectors, noting that they include the "Haseen," "Mueen," and "Awn" applications, which employ artificial intelligence to support decision-making processes within military institutions.

Al-Otaibi pointed out that SOFEX is witnessing the participation of about 400 delegations from 75 countries, alongside 350 companies from 38 countries, noting that advanced technologies, unmanned systems, and drones are at the forefront of the participants' interests.

He added that the Special Operations Forces Commanders Conference, which was held prior to the launch of the exhibition, addressed topics related to drones, unmanned systems, and emerging technologies, in light of the rapid change in the nature of security and military threats.
