His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein patronized, on Monday, the launch of the Middle East Special Operations Commanders Conference (MESOC), in the presence of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Al-Hnaity, the Director of Public Security, Major General Obeidallah Al-Maaytah, and a number of senior officers from the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army and security services, as well as representatives from brotherly and friendly countries and official figures.
More than 400 official delegations representing 75 brotherly and friendly countries, and 350 exhibiting companies from 38 countries are participating in the conference to discuss the latest developments in defense and security industries, review modern technologies and strategies to face future security challenges, and enhance international cooperation and exchange of expertise.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of SOFEX, retired Major General Engineer Ayman Al-Batran, said: "Jordan's hosting of this conference confirms its international standing as a reliable and effective partner in combating terrorism, strengthening security measures, developing institutional and operational capabilities, exchanging expertise, and its active contribution to supporting security and peace in the region and the world."
Al-Batran added that this edition of SOFEX gains exceptional importance as it is held in a rapidly evolving and increasingly complex security and operational environment, where shared knowledge and collective expertise have become essential components of readiness and effective response, especially in the field of drones and anti-drone systems, and keeping pace with technological transformations.
In his speech, the Commander of the King Abdullah II Special Forces emphasized that the effectiveness of special operations forces in the current era depends primarily on anticipating and predicting change rather than merely reacting to it, stressing that contemporary security challenges require the dedication of a culture of institutional integration and the building of international strategic partnerships.
He pointed out that the conference's focus this year on the themes of knowledge and innovation, multi-domain operations, and international military cooperation represents a fundamental pillar for enhancing regional resilience and developing capabilities to face expected threats and conditions.
The conference included intensive discussion panels distributed over three main sessions that discussed bridging the gap between theory and practice, the role of the military establishment, the academic and industrial sectors in technical development and innovation, and supporting combat readiness. The interdependence between Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and special operations forces in asymmetric warfare across various domains was also discussed, in addition to the challenges and benefits of joint integration and targeting centers, and the role of military diplomacy and unconventional humanitarian missions.
The conference is the official event accompanying the Jordanian Special Operations Forces Exhibition "SOFEX 2026," which kicks off on Tuesday under Royal patronage at the exhibition and conference grounds in Aqaba, and continues for three days, with local and international participation, to showcase the latest weapons, equipment, and defense and security technologies.
