Judeh: Royal Visit to China Opens New Horizons for Investment, Trade, and Tourism

The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Engineer Yarub Judeh, said that the royal visit to the People's Republic of China was an important economic milestone to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and open new horizons for trade, investment, and tourism cooperation in line with the Kingdom's directions to diversify markets and attract high-quality foreign investments.

He explained during the regular morning business meeting organized by the Jordanian Businessmen Association, on Monday, that the visit came within the framework of implementing an economic vision based on diversifying economic partnerships and enhancing foreign direct investment flows to the Kingdom, noting that China is today one of the largest sources of foreign investment globally, making it an important partner for Jordan in the coming phase.

He stressed that the meetings focused on two main axes: the first is attracting Chinese investments to Jordan and the second is enhancing Jordanian exports to the Chinese market, especially in sectors where the Kingdom has competitive advantages and promising growth opportunities.

He pointed out that the tourism sector received special attention during the visit in light of the advanced position of the Chinese market as one of the largest tourist-exporting markets globally, explaining that the government has taken a series of measures to facilitate the reception of Chinese tourists and enhance the visitor experience, including providing tourism promotional content in Chinese through digital platforms, training a number of tourism sector workers in the Chinese language, and working to introduce Chinese electronic payment systems including "WeChat Pay" and "Ali Pay", to facilitate the use of these services within the Kingdom.

Judeh added that Jordan is also preparing to organize events to promote Chinese tourism, alongside launching direct flights via Royal Jordanian to China, which will contribute to enhancing tourism and business movement between the two countries.

He confirmed that the government immediately began implementing a practical follow-up plan for the visit's outcomes, where a national team comprising various concerned parties was formed to follow up on the results of the meetings and agreements reached and ensure their conversion into projects and investment opportunities on the ground, where the team is directly communicating with the Chinese companies met during the visit, aiming to complete technical discussions, facilitate investment procedures, and enhance partnership opportunities with the Jordanian private sector.

On the tourism front, Judeh pointed out that the meetings also included "Trip.com", one of the largest travel and tourism platforms in China, which millions of Chinese travelers rely on for their bookings, explaining that the company will visit Jordan in the coming period to discuss cooperation mechanisms and promote the Kingdom as a tourist destination in the Chinese market.

He stressed that the success of the visit's outcomes requires a real partnership between the public and private sectors, explaining that the government's role is to prepare the investment environment, facilitate procedures, and open markets, while the private sector's primary role is to invest available opportunities and convert them into projects and economic partnerships that contribute to supporting economic growth and providing job opportunities.

For his part, the President of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, Ayman Al-Oloan, said that the royal visit to China gained special importance in light of China's status as one of the most prominent economic, industrial, and technological powers in the world, and the wide opportunities it provides for Jordan to expand cooperation and partnership in sectors of investment, industry, energy, technology, innovation, transportation, and logistics.

He added that the visit represents an opportunity to enhance the presence of Jordanian companies in Asian markets, attract Chinese investments to the Kingdom, and encourage the establishment of joint industrial projects and benefit from Chinese expertise and technology, which contributes to developing the national industry and increasing the added value of Jordanian products.

He emphasized that the importance of cooperation with China is evident in the possibility of benefiting from Jordan's location and trade agreements, which enhances its role as a regional platform for production and export and opens the door to partnerships targeting regional and global markets, pointing to the importance of transitioning Jordanian-Chinese economic relations to be based on investment, technology transfer, joint manufacturing, knowledge, and increasing the volume of trade exchange.
