The Council of the Jordan Press Association held an extraordinary session chaired by the head of the syndicate, Tareq Al-Momani, to discuss the conditions and mechanism for selecting journalists nominated to participate in the Jordanian Hajj mission for the year 2027, in light of the allocation of 8 seats for syndicate members, following the reduction of Jordan's Hajj visa quota by half compared to previous seasons.
The syndicate explained in a statement today, Sunday, that it had received a communication from the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites to provide it with the names of candidates to participate in the Hajj mission for the upcoming season, according to the quota allocated to the syndicate, based on the administrative and financial instructions governing Hajj and Umrah affairs.
The syndicate set a set of conditions and documents required for nomination, most notably that the applicant must be a member of the practicing journalists' register, nominated by a licensed media institution, an employee working for it, and must not have previously participated in the syndicate's Hajj missions.
It is also required to attach a social security statement proving the candidate's employment at a media institution, a passport valid until October 30, 2027, two personal photos with a white background, and a vaccination certificate against meningitis, provided that the passport is machine-readable and renewed, not extended.
The syndicate called on media institutions wishing to nominate their employees to attach the Media Commission license for the year 2026 with the nomination applications, stressing the necessity of completing the required documents according to the specified conditions.
It indicated that the deadline for receiving nomination applications will be available at the headquarters of the Jordan Press Association until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
