Journalists pay tribute to journalist and writer Sultan Al-Hattab

Journalists, writers, and intellectuals recalled milestones from the career of the late journalist Sultan Al-Hattab, remembering his contributions to Jordanian and Arab journalism, and the focus on national affairs and political issues that characterized his career, during a memorial ceremony hosted by the National Library Department. The event was organized by the late journalist's friends committee, under the patronage of the Minister of Government Communication, Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, and in the presence of the Director General of the National Library, Firas Al-Dharab'ah, along with a number of media and cultural figures, friends of the deceased, and his family members.

The memorial ceremony served as an occasion to evoke a professional experience linked to journalistic writing and monitoring public affairs, and to shed light on the role of journalists in documenting political and social transformations, keeping pace with national issues, and contributing to shaping public awareness through words, analysis, and follow-up.

Speakers at the ceremony included the Minister of Government Communication, Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani; the head of the Jordan Press Association, Tareq Al-Momani; the Editor-in-Chief of Al-Rai newspaper, Dr. Khaled Al-Shaqran; and writer Hamada Faraaneh, in addition to a speech delivered on behalf of the deceased's family, which addressed aspects of his professional career, milestones in his journalistic experience, and his impact on his colleagues and companions.

The speakers emphasized the importance of remembering media figures who contributed to the journey of Jordanian journalism, pointing to the professional and human impact Al-Hattab left in his journalistic circle, his presence in following up on national and political issues, and the milestone his experience represented in the history of Jordanian media.

The importance of memorializing pioneers goes beyond recalling their personal biographies to providing an opportunity for new generations to learn about the experiences of journalists who contributed to the development of the profession and the challenges they faced in monitoring, analyzing, and conveying events to the public. These meetings also highlight the value of journalistic memory as part of the national memory, including the writings, testimonies, and positions that document stages of society's history and its transformations.

The organization of the ceremony comes in the context of honoring journalists who left their mark on media life, and in appreciation of their contributions to journalism and public affairs, while the National Library Department continues to perform its role in preserving documents and sources that form a pillar of Jordanian memory, and hosting events that evoke national, cultural, and media figures and their contributions.
