Jordanian-Syrian statement confirms moving forward with developing a strategic partnership in various fields

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi held extensive talks today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, Assad Al-Shaibani, focusing on ways to enhance relations between the two brotherly countries.

During their meeting in Aqaba, Safadi and Al-Shaibani affirmed the depth of the brotherly relations that unite Jordan and Syria, and the importance of moving forward in developing them into a strategic partnership in various fields. They also affirmed their keenness to continue working to develop cooperation in a way that achieves the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples.

The two ministers also discussed the ongoing preparations for holding the third session of the Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council in Damascus on November 8 and 9, 2026, following up on the implementation of the outcomes of the second session held in Amman last April, and translating what was agreed upon into practical steps.

They also agreed to continue discussing strategic projects related to food security, energy, water, transport, and other priority and implementable projects during the third session of the Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council.

Safadi affirmed the Kingdom's firm position in supporting sisterly Syria in the reconstruction process on foundations that ensure its unity, sovereignty, security, stability, and the integrity of its territories and citizens, and preserve the rights of all Syrians, stressing that Syria's security and stability are a pillar for the security and stability of the region.

The two ministers reiterated their condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks and incursions into Syrian territory, and the necessity of stopping them, as they are a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a blatant breach of international law, the United Nations Charter, and Israel's obligations under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. They affirmed the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation of the occupied Syrian territories and respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The two ministers affirmed the absolute solidarity of Jordan and Syria with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and their full support for it in all steps it takes to protect its security, stability, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Safadi and Al-Shaibani also reiterated their condemnation of the terrorist Houthi militia's attacks on the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its targeting of civilians and civilian and economic facilities, as a blatant breach of international law and a brutal assault on Saudi Arabia's sovereignty, security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

The two ministers also discussed regional developments and efforts to end escalation, restore calm, and enhance security and stability in the region.

Safadi and Al-Shaibani agreed to continue consultation and maintain coordination and cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and to follow up on the implementation of what is agreed upon, in a way that enhances brotherly relations and serves the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples.
