Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Tuesday that he has placed the military on high alert for 'any possible scenario' ahead of the anniversary of Hamas' attack on October 7th.
A statement from Katz's office said the instructions were issued 'in light of intelligence information about Hamas' intentions to attempt attacks and terrorist operations against our forces in Gaza on that day'.
The statement added 'If our forces are harmed, (...) — Hamas and the residents of Gaza will pay the heavy price —'.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched 'Operation Al-Aqsa Flood' in territories occupied by Israel, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people according to Israeli authorities.
