Israel arrests a Palestinian it has been pursuing for about 10 years in the northern West Bank

The Israeli army arrested a Palestinian on Wednesday evening, whom it had been pursuing since 2017, after shooting and wounding him during a raid on his home in the town of Tammun, in the occupied northern West Bank.

The director of the Palestinian Prisoners' Club in Tubas, Kamal Bani Odeh, told Anadolu Agency that Israeli special units raided the home of Samer Bani Odeh (in his forties), as well as the adjacent homes of his brothers in the Al-Rafid area of Tammun, southeast of Tubas governorate.

He added that Israeli forces opened fire during the raid, which led to Samer Bani Odeh being wounded in the hand before his arrest.

The director of the Prisoners' Club in Tubas explained that the Israeli army had raided the family's homes on Wednesday morning and arrested one of Samer Bani Odeh's brothers to pressure him to turn himself in, before releasing him hours later.

He pointed out that Samer Bani Odeh has been pursued by the Israeli army since 2017, and is a former prisoner who previously spent two years in Israeli jails during the Al-Aqsa Intifada.

The director of the club in Tubas mentioned that the family has been subjected to repeated raids and arrests over the past years, which affected Bani Odeh's brothers, his wife, and his son, in addition to his home being raided numerous times.

There are about 9,350 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, including 350 children and 90 female prisoners, while human rights organizations state that the prisoners are subjected to torture, starvation, and medical negligence, which has led to the death of dozens of them.
