Irbid Governor Firas Abu Al-Ghanem, accompanied by the Governorate's Director of Agriculture, Dr. Engineer Abdul Hafiz Abu Orabi, and an official and municipal delegation, inspected carob tree planting projects with high economic feasibility in the Al-Koura District, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance rural development and empower local communities.
This tour comes to assess the success of the "Kufr Abil" project, which was completed between 2023 and 2025. It resulted in the planting of 80,000 carob trees over an area of 1,500 dunums and succeeded in providing about 550 job opportunities for the people of the region, reflecting a tangible impact on the economic and living conditions in the district.
The Governor and the field delegation also reviewed the launch of the new "Sartaba" area project, which spans a three-year plan aimed at reclaiming and planting 2,000 dunums with approximately 100,000 additional carob trees, with expectations of generating about 850 new job opportunities for members of the local community.
These trends reflect a strategic vision based on the optimal utilization of agricultural land and the expansion of planting economic fruit trees, in a way that achieves a balance between preserving the environment and creating sustainable job opportunities that support the aspirations of rural families in Irbid Governorate.
